PHELAN SS16 @ NEW YORK FASHION WEEK

AOFMPro working for the first time backstage with new label Phelan debuting at this years New York Fashion Week. Former Alexander Wang knitwear designer Amanda Phelan launched her label this year at the La Mama theatre using models and dancers in her collection. Movement is key to her brand’s identity which is why she used dancers as well for her first collection. The collections plainest expression was via the knitwear, which displayed an impressive level of technical invention. Knitwear was popcorned and puckered, gossamer sheer, and others graphically patterned. Aside from a few pieces they were street-ready, commercial looks. The clothes featured advanced technical details such as wrapped reflective yarn stitched and gathered into 3-D sculptural formations. The makeup look which complimented the collection beautifully was to be very haunted, all of the makeup was applied by our wonderfully talented graduates. The skin was kept very natural and had to be very hydrated and super sheer. Concealer and a very small amount of foundation was used, illuminator was applied in the corner of the eyes and on the cheekbones. No mascara and very sheer lips.
