AOFM Graduates were back again this season with designer HELTER at the Elms Leicester Painting Rooms in the heart of Central London.
The womenswear brand presented a spring/summer 17 collection working around functional minimalism; a line-up of structural- but wearable, slits and sharp cut-outs with the detailing of mechanical fastenings.
The inspiration for the SS17 collection is the sea. The designers mirrored the gills of fish by crafting slits into the fabric across shoulder blades as well as cut-outs inspired by the movements of marine life such as sharks and stingrays. The inspiration of the sea was further reflected in the set design; the dark abyss; the rays of light as they shine through the waters.
The brief for the makeup for this collection was to reflect the minimalist modern vibe of the clothes, the graduates created a look of flawless skin teamed with a nude lip & a maroon graphic liner. The difficulty in achieving a perfectly identical liner on every model was overcome through a great concentration placed on precision, the team executed the look & the result was beautiful.
