ANDREA POMPILIO Milan Fashion Week SS/15

ALL makeup grooming by our AOFM student Pro Teams backstage at Milan Fashion Week
This was a serious collection. A fresh blitz of limes, ombré and light caramels with structure and much layering this stunning SS15 Menwear collection rightly has received critical acclaim. Andrea himself a native Italian, has always lived in a creative environment with his father is an architect and his mother a passionate of painting, both influences very apparent for SS15 with the happy marriage of colour blocks, structure, circular details and clean lines.

With this in mind, Graduates who attended the Artistic Pro creative specialist makeup course who make up our AOFM Graduate Pro Teams were challenged to keep the model acetic in keeping with the clothes : fresh and wearable. As makeup artists, sometimes the hardest looks to achieve are the stripped back “barely there”. This is where the any new artist can struggle the most – just how much is enough? As usual our hugely experienced key artist demonstrates the complete look backstage to the 12 lucky graduates who have accompanied us here in Italy, and here’s how our Andrea Pompilio look was achieved.

Straight off it was evident the finesse lay in the preparation of the skin, arguably the most important step in any makeup, man or woman. Using Dermalogica Ultra Calming Cleanser to thoroughly clean, and Dermalogica Anti Oxidant Hydro Mist to tone and tighten pores – something artists must be especially aware of with male models as generally the skin tends to be more oily. Completing with Dermalogica Active Moist moisturiser. Naturally we used the appropriate skin are adjusting where necessary the individual models skin type. A pop of Lucas Pawpaw Ointment was used on the lip to plump and hydrate, although this would blotted off just prior to the walk, just leaving a matt yet thoroughly moisturised lip
Using Bobbi Brown stick foundation a very light perfecting coverage was used. This meant you couldn’t actually detect any makeup and the models skin was visible but any redness or blemishes were eliminated. A little mix of a Bobbi Brown peach /skin toned concealer under the eye to brighten and freshen was used also. Insider tip: as most men have short hair the ears can be more exposed to the elements making them much redder than ladies. When doing grooming, always pop a tiny bit of foundation set with powder over Dermalogica Redness Relief to offset this .

Taking clear mascara the brows were brushed and tidied into shape with no addition filling required. To complete, a light dusting of Shi Uemura Colorless Powder to set and flawlessly mattify the finished look.
Perfection.

AOFM is proud of our makeup course graduates who did an amazing job backstage. We are proud to be the ONLY makeup school in the world to take our graduates all over the globe to work backstage at Fashion week in London, New York Pairs and Milan.
