Hairstyling. Shopping Day.
This course is suitable for the absolute beginner with no previous experience and there is no entry requirement. If you work full time or are unable to commit during the week, this part time course will be perfect for you. The part time course runs over 3 consecutive weekends on each Saturday and Sunday. It would also benefit someone who is already working in the industry as a professional makeup artist and is looking to gain a new skill to add what they can offer to their clients.
This course builds from our Freelance Certificate in Professional Makeup and Advanced Makeup Techniques into the freelance world of hair styling. More than ever, it has become important to be able to offer more than just make-up skills. This course is perfect for a make-up artist to learn the added skill of styling hair to give you the opportunity to gain more work on photo shoots, catwalk shows and weddings.
Hair Product Selection
Before creating a style, learn how to select the right product. In this section we will guide you through products and their uses.
Tools and Equipment
You will find out what tools are needed for a session stylist kit. We will guide you through their personal kits to give you a good understanding of what is required
Lean how to section the hair, keeping it clean and tidy before beginning your desired style.
Learn how to blow dry hair in to simple styles adding volume and body.
Learn how to set hair into styles using both heated rollers, and classic wet setting techniques.
Creating Curls with Hot Tools
Most session stylists work with tongs whether it’s back stage or on a shoot. Learn how to create body curls, flicks and other tonging tricks.
Hair Pieces and Extensions
Our stylist will help you understand and teach you how to work with hair pieces and creating styles around extensions
Bridal Hair Up
Learn how to create stunning styles for brides including the correct technique for securing hair with pins.
Fashion Editorial and Catwalk
Our stylist will help you understand the set etiquette for photographic and magazine shoots. You will also learn effective styles for catwalk as well as the speed that is required for working backstage.
Tools and Products
AOFM will supply all products and tools required for this course. On the first day each student will be given a basic hair kit to work from. AOFM only supplies our students with current products and tools that are used by industry professionals and that are salon quality.
Included in this course is AOFM’s exclusive shopping day. You will be given the opportunity to purchase hair products at a discounted rate. What a great opportunity for you to start building your hair kit!
Fees & Dates
Course Fee: £800
- The academy will accept a 50% deposit to hold a students place at the time of booking.
- All fees must be paid in full no later then 5 weeks prior to the course start date.
This part time course will run over a period of three weekends in our London studio on Saturday’s and Sundays.
