This course suits anyone who may have full time employment or other commitments during the week who would like to train as a professional make up artist. This course is over a duration of 3 weeks and takes place in our studio every Saturday and Sunday.

This intensive advanced course covers the much wider range of skills essential to becoming a professional hair and make up artist. Our tutors will give you a much deeper insight into the competitive world of hair and make up, discussing professional experiences and sharing tips and tricks of the trade along the way. Upon completion of this course you will feel confident working with make up and hair, having gained the knowledge and know-how to goit alone in this creative and exciting industry. This course is also suitable for current working freelance artists wishing to refresh or update their creative skills.


The syllabus will cover the following topics :-


Basic Hair - This industry is always evolving. Now then ever there is a need for a make up artist to have a little more skill then just make up. We have structured this course so you will learn a quick basic understanding of hair so it will open more doors and give you an advantage within the industry. This covers basic styling and understanding about hair products. You will also learn a few styles and tricks from one of our hair stylists with extensive catwalk and photography experience.

Periods (20's - 80's) - Its very important as a make up artist to have a good understanding of make up history.This covers make up periods from the
20s-80s in detail.

Glamour make-up - You will learn detailed application techniques of glamour style make up with the help of a make up artist with extensive glamour make up industry experience.

Mature Make-up - This will cover make up application when applying to a mature person.

Male Corrective Make-up - This covers make up application skills for males.

Ethnic make-up - You will learn in detail an understanding of ethnic make up techniques, including African and Oriental etc.

Body paints - Learn about body paints and their uses. You will learn this from a make up artist with extensive body painting work experience.

Stencils/Tattoo - This covers creative stenciling and tattooing with a make up artist with extensive work experience.

Glitter/Freckles - This covers glitters and there application techniques.

Working with textures - This will cover adding a variety of creative textures to your make up, giving extra impact.

Catwalk - This covers advanced catwalk make up in more detail with a make up artist with extensive catwalk work experience on shows in Paris, London Milan
and New York.

Fashion - This covers advanced fashion make up, with a make up artist with extensive experience in this field.

Film/TV - This will cover an advanced understanding and skills in TV and film with a make up artist with extensive work experience in this field.

Advertising - Covers advanced make up skills for advertising.

Commercials - Covers advanced make up skills for commercials.

Theatre - This covers in detail theatre and stage make up applications and techniques.

Music - Covers advanced make up skills in the music sector with a make up artist with extensive work experience in this field.

Avante Garde - This section will explore you creative side & learn how to add experimental influence to your work.

Getting started in the industry - You will learn how to get started and become successful in this industry. You learn this with guidance and advice from a well established hair and make up freelance artist.

Building a professional make-up kit - This covers in detail how and what you need to build a professional make up artist portfolio. You will find out what tools are needed for a working make up artist´s kit. A make up artist will show you their own personal kits to give you a good understanding.

Creative day with photographer & stylist - This gives you the chance to show your creative side. Demonstrate the skills learnt over the duration of the course and put then in to practice. This is also a section of the course that gives you the chance to give you a head start with your portfolio and gain valuable work experience with a professional photographer and stylist.
